Fortune Favors The Bold is the 4th studio album by the southwest Virginia natives 49 Winchester. It was released in 2022.

This album has a good variety in content from track to track. There are a couple traveling songs and each look at it a little differently. "All I Need" is a more upbeat song that talks about how hard it can be as a traveling musician, but in the end, it's totally worth it.

The other traveling musician song, "Russell County Line" is my favorite song on this album. It gets into missing home and being away from family for extended periods of time. I typically like songs like this because it shows these big-time musicians that have the same feelings and emotions just like everyone else. My home state of Virginia gets a shoutout in this song which also elevates it in my rankings.

"Damn Darlin'" and "Second Chance" are both piano driven heartbreak songs. It's a good change of pace of the happier upbeat songs throughout the album. They both are very powerful due to Issac Gibson's writing and vocal performance.

"Hillbilly Daydream" and the title track, "Fortune Favors The Bold," are both upbeat fun songs that are very honky-tonk and fun to listen to. The last track fittingly titled "Last Call" is another fun song about not wanting to leave the bar.

Overall, this is a great album. It doesn't have a single song that I don't like which makes it hard to give a favorite and least favorite. Anytime these songs appear on shuffle, they don't get skipped. These songs sound just as good in a live show as they do in the studio recordings. This was an amazing album from the boys from southwest Virginia.
