1969 - Roger Miller recorded a version of Kris Kristofferson's "Me and Bobby McGee" and it reached its peak at #12 on the Country charts.
1971 - Rick Trevino was born on this day.
1980 - Alabama released what would become their first US Country #1 hit "Tennessee River."
1985 - Alabama's ninth studio album 40-Hour Week was #1 on the Country album chart.
1987 - "To Know Him Is To Love Him" off of the Trio album by Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and Emmylou Harris was the #1 Country single.
1999 - "Please Remember Me" by Tim McGraw was #1 on the Country chart. The song was co-written by Rodney Crowell and Will Jennings.
2006 - Kenney Chesney performed "There Goes My Life" and "Back Where I Come From in the East Wing of the White House for President George W. Bush and Australian Prime Minister John Howard.
2012 - Banjo player or The Dillards, Doug Dillard passed away. He died due to lung infection. He was 75 years old.
2013 - For the season finale of American Idol, Keith Urban played his hit "Little Bit of Everything." Later that episode Urban and contestant Kree Harrison performed "Where the Blacktop Ends."
